Glory to God

“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will towards men.”
-Luke 2:14
For many years now this line has been my absolute favorite lines in the Christmas story.
Enthroning God & having peace… what a perfect combination.
Some days my soul sings this. And others its a petition. And other I say it to remind myself. Glory to God in the highest… there is no clause that says “only if things are going well.”
Glory to God at all times, all places, and in every situation.

Psalms 23: 1-6

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Psalms 23: 1-6

Some nights, all I can do is say this passage of scripture over and over again.

It keeps my emotions as bay,
my thoughts quieted, and the voices in my head silenced enough so I can breath. As close to peace as I can achieve in chaos. Enough silence to sleep. My own form of the Jesus Prayer. Tears or no tears, my lips move and my voice says this passage.

Lord, hear my cries.

Calm the storm within me.

Peace that passes understanding.

to live by.

…I will turn my can’t(s) in to can(s), I will turn my dreams into plans…

Shakespeare.

This past quarter we have been learning about Shakespeare in comp and lit class.
So naturally, we started off with his sonnets.
Just something to get our feet wet before we dove into Twelfth Night.
My favorite is 116 =)
While studying his sonnets we had to write our own.
We had to use his abab pattern.
And this is what I came up with.....

A. Yes, I say. The season is changing
B. The hot summer sun is now being dulled
A. Dulled by the soft, sweet wind flowing
B. It swishes and sways, I feel myself being lulled

C. The leaves are falling down
D. On to the rain softened ground
C. With the falling comes the sound
D. Crash, crackle, pop, broken, laying in a mound

E. In abundance are the colors in this holiday time
F. The radiant reds, vibrant violets, the bright orange and yellow shine

"I'm Nobody! Who are you?"

I'm Nobody! Who are you? (260)
by Emily Dickinson

I'm Nobody! Who are you?
Are you – Nobody – too?
Then there's a pair of us?
Don't tell! they'd advertise – you know!

How dreary – to be – Somebody!
How public – like a Frog –
To tell one's name – the livelong June –
To an admiring Bog!

Blogging again am I

- Blogging Again Am I -

buried under a think layer of dust
my thoughts lay on a page
untouched and unchanged
too busy i've become
consumed by other thing
too long they have sat undisturbed
dusty no more i declare
write will i
so my thoughts can leave the sad dusty page

Ideas for the future

Recently I have been contemplating the idea of getting some of my work published.
My mum has been nudging me in that direction for quite some time.
I have just spent the last hour perusing my literary works.
And personally, I don't think any of my work is good enough to be "officially" published.
My mum would beg to differ.
But, I think with some tweaking I might be open to the possibility.
So don't be surprised if one morning you open up your door, grab the paper, and see my face on it with the head line reading... "One Writes Overnight Success"........

..... Ok. Maybe not.
But, hey.
Anything is possible.
